Dancing dresses in the Filoli Gardens

Dancing dresses in the Filoli Gardens

Today’s lunch visit at Filoli House and Garden was a nice break from our shelter-and-work-at-home-life.

This summer, ghost dresses are dancing in the old mansion’s garden, reminding visitors of the high society balls and dinners that were held here at the beginning of the 20th century.

The artist behind the exhibition, Kristine Mays, has created the dresses from small pieces of wire, and she wants them to “push through while at the same time, mingling and dancing among the flowers.” And they do.

Filoli was built in 1915 by the family Bourn, the owner of one of California’s richest gold mines.
